On August 24, 2021, Hana Worthen, associate professor of theater, published a chapter in the book Dramaturgies of Interweaving, titled “Speaking Black: Tonya Pinkins’s Mother Courage.” In this scholarly work, Professor Worthen considers how modern dramaturgies interweave aspects of theater, performance, dance, and other arts.

While exploring various strategies for attracting and maintaining audience engagement in different cultures, Worthen et al. examine how dramaturgies, which interweave creative methods of theater and art, are uniquely positioned to shape how audiences experience the world. The research highlights dramaturgies from across the globe, considering their different perspectives, complexities, and potentials.
